Earl,
jrio is being phased out. and will be gone from IBM's z/OS Java. I have an example of using jzos for reading MVS datasets in my "NetRexx on the Big Iron" presentation from 2011. best regards, René. (I'm using Albiko on 7" Android tablet as me eReader.) Reading a PDF book means: Squinting at the tiny font, or zooming in and then re-zooming on every page turn. Toss in re-finding my place upon return and PDF becomes something I avoid as much as possible. I don't care about page layout (beyond a sensible basic), but EPub is far better, IMO. Of course, that's just me and my hardware setup, YMMV. e-Pub is next on the list. The current PDF reads very well on iPad and other devices in that vein, but I have come to see, while changing glasses in my spectacles (hmm, that is Brit for glasses - glasses in my glasses?) that very well has a low tolerance, now with my arm getting shorter. It will be 3.02 for e-pub, though.

I have read (and do read) the NetRexx doc on my computer, portability would certainly be nice, but not a requirement by any means. [American English: "Changing lenses in my glasses," but we interoperate rather well with the British, so either way is fine.] Tom. _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |

Answer 2: it also depends on equipment and software. Preview on my 17" MacBook renders PDF very crisp and with awesome typography; it saves reading position, and leaves Reader in the dust.

My last was (and still is, actually) a Powerbook 500 (circa 1994) ... if I can find it. I installed Eclipse NetRexx into Eclipse and when I go to the New menu, I don't see anything about NetRexx. Shouldn't I? I see Java Project as an option and that would be fine, if I was going to program in Java, but I'm not. Help from anyone with experience with Eclipse NetRexx would be appreciated.

Earl, I'm just finishing up a how to set up Eclipse for NetRexx
development - that is wortking with the NetRexx source. It will be available shortly. Because NetRexx source is translated into Java, you want to use a Java Project. Just put the nrx files in the source folder. I have not developed any wizards for NetRexx - just create a new file with a name ending in .nrx and the editor will be used. The Eclipse setup guide for NetRexx Compiler developers can be found here.
http://kenai.com/jira/secure/attachment/14879/Eclipse+Setup.txt Note that this is not just to install Eclipse, but to set up the NetRexx compiler source (from the kenai SVN site) as an Eclipse project.
