Ad Android development, a bird eyes view ...

Rony G. Flatscher (wu-wien)
Hi there,

given the current discussions about Android development (which reaches far beyond mobiles) and
installations it may be interesting to get a taste of how that looks like (and where/how one would
create and test and run the created Android apps).

A student, Dennis Robert Stöhr, took on a task for the ski-seminar 2010/11 and his results can be
seen here: <http://wi.wu.ac.at/rgf/diplomarbeiten/index.htm#sem_201102b>. If you click on the title,
you get his seminar paper, but you may want to start out by clicking on the presentation link at the
bottom of that box.

HTH,

Rony,

Thanks for offering to contact Dennis regarding this.  He sounds like the
perfect person to check things out and to let us know how to maximize the
use of NetRexx in the Android / Eclipse world.

Since he is an experienced Eclipse user, probably all he needs to know is
-> Eclipse.org -> plugins, and search for NetRexx.  That will get him to
the plugin and the update site to be used.  Here is the link so he can just
paste it into the "add Eclipse update site":

http://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipsenetrexx/files/update/

I would then suggest that he go to the netrexx.org site and download some
sample programs.  And of course Mike's NetRexx documentation will be
invaluable to understand the differences between NetRexx and ooRexx.

Tell him to feel free to contact me via this forum, the plugin forum at
sourceforge, or directly, if he has problems, suggestions, etc.

Thanks again.

Bill

I have found the most effective way to teach people how to access their Enchanted Self, i.e. to find and hold onto feelings of joy, and a sense of well-being is to share the Seven Gateways To Enchantment. It is a quick way to catch your Enchanted Self.pet grooming
