Fastcompany article....

BRADLEY
Wow!  After reading the article about IBM, Java, and Netrexx on
the FastCompany home page all I can say is wow!

According to the article it is basically because of you Mike,
that a new era of computing started at IBM.  Wow!  If it were not for
Java and Netrexx, IBM would not be where it is today.

And you wrote a few weeks ago that "some groups at IBM are becoming
aware of NetRexx".   Have the Java guru's at IBM read this article?
Maybe they should.   If those on this list have not read the
FastCompany article, do it, Mike sent the URL to you earlier.

Thanks for the inspiration, Mike.

A Rexx and Java fan,
Brad Simonin

Brad,

Mike is quite an inspiration isn't he?  Porting Java to OS/2 in five days?
Geez. What a laggard I am.

I couldn't help wondering though if IBM is truly mending it's ways.  For
Java development, all I hear about is Visual Age for Java.  From what I
understand, it is a fine tool but it's a tremendous resource hog with a
very steep, almost painful learning curve and there are no books available
for it.  For me, going with NetRexx is a no-brainer.  We have two books
available, The NetRexx Language and The NetRexx Redbook.  After working
with NetRexx a little, I wonder if the added complexity of a RAD tool is
worth it.  Anyway, I have my doubts that NetRexx is even well known within
IBM.  If not, why are they keeping it a secret?
