I'm just (*one time*) forwarding this Ask*Leo weekly newsletter to
the NetRexx Community:
I found Ask Leo quite informative ... As I'm living and working for my own, I am dependent on people knowing more then me ;-) Thomas Schneider. =====================================================================
Leo, when You do have a *time slot*, You shall walk to www.netrexx.org, and have a *look at NetRexx* :-) NetRexx, as classic Rexx, has been originally designed and implemented by Mike F. Cowlishaw, a former IBM fellow, now in pension from IBM, but still acting as an IT-Professor there in the UK, I think. NetRexx, as one of the variants of the Rexx Family of Languages (details on www.RexxLA.org) is nowadays *open source*, as is Open Object Rexx (ooRexx, for short) as well, where You shall find ooRexx on www.RexxLA.org. You might have had used Rexx in the past, as it has been *The command Language* of OS/2, and is also still used worldwide on nearly all IBM Computers a lot. It's a real *pity* that dear Microsoft didn't use Rexx as it's batch language, I think- The SAA Rexx variation may be obtained from www.rexx.org, as Mark Hessling and others are maintaining this version, called *Regina*, by the way :-). You shall find this on www.rexx.org The NetRexx Translator is unique in the way that it might be used both as an Interpreter as well as a compiler usable with any and all Java classes and methods :-) It's syntax and semantic are, however, much more human and easier to learn and use as pure Java. Having said that, Leo, I ask You now to have Your group have a look and forward this info back to Ask*Leo after Your review, when You find the approach interesting. Any questions: send a mail to this group, as here are all the Rexx enthusiasts as me anyway! Kind regards, Thomas Schneider, Vienna, Austria. ================================================================== -------- Original-Nachricht --------
Hello again Thomas, I hope you're finding the Ask Leo! Newsletter helpful, informative and perhaps occasionally even a little entertaining. :-) I'd like to ask you for a little help. If you're liking my little twice-a-week newsletter I'd like to ask you to invite others - friends, family members, coworkers - to subscribe as well. Invite anyone you feel that might benefit from the answers I put together for each issue. Computers are difficult and confusing beasts at times. Just point them at: http://newsletter.askleo.com and invite them to come along for our ride. As you know, it's completely free. And hopefully helpful. Don't forget: as an Ask Leo! newsletter subscriber the best way for you submit a question is to head on over to the subscriber-only "ask a question" page: http://askleo.com/subscriber Thanks again for subscribing - I'll talk to you again soon.
