Player 5.3 Update — Improved Failover
for Firefox
The adoption of JW
Player 5.3, specifically our
support for HTML5, has been
overwhelming. But even a great release
has room for improvement. We have released
an update to JW Player 5.3 which
fixes several minor bugs and handles a
very specific case
for failover in Firefox. Now, if you
embed an MP4 file with HTML5 as the
primary playback mode, the player will
failover to Flash for Firefox users.

Player for WordPress — Upgraded to
JW5.3
Our WordPress users will be excited to
hear that the JW
Player for WordPress plugin has
been upgraded to JW5.3. A recap on the
benefits:
- Embed Auto-Detection
— auto-detects the user's browser /
device and chooses the best playback
mode (Flash or HTML5)
- Consistent Skinning
Model — Create an XML/PNG
skin and use it in both Flash and
HTML5 for consistent styling across
browsers / devices.
- Unified JavaScript
API — Integrate the player
into your site with the new JavaScript
API to provide a single cross-platform
experience
