FYI, in case anyone missed it. Not much news for the members of this list, though.

best regards,

René.

Thanks René. Next time, you could also use "First languages..." instead of "oldest" which has a -sadly- slightly negative connotation.

In today´s world, very few people will get ´excited´ about ´old´ computing stuff... the focus is on the "shiny and new" and "latest". "First" on the other hand, just states that it was the first one.

(Not me, I still appreciate the good old Commodore 8 bit machines. Could you believe someone coded a Media Player for the C128 for instance?. Retrocomputing fans are awesome...).

---

Definition of OLD

1
a : dating from the remote past : ancient <old traditions>
b : persisting from an earlier time <an old ailment> <they brought up the same old argument>
c : of long standing <an old friend>
2
a : distinguished from an object of the same kind by being of an earlier date <many still used the old name>
b capitalized : belonging to an early period in the development of a language or literature <Old Persian>
3
: having existed for a specified period of time <a child three years old>
4
: of, relating to, or originating in a past era <old chronicles record the event>
--
What I meant is that usually ´old´ is associated with meanings 1, and 4 above rather than 2 and 3.

Yeah, I know, it´s subtle. But sometimes -specially in marketing- wording is everything.
Another positive adjective that could be used is "prioneer".

Please, don´t take me as a nitpicker for this. Just thinking aloud.

And best wishes for you all.

Dang, can´t even type tonight. I guess I´m getting ´old´ too. ;)

And there must be an Internet rule about attempting to correct someone
