I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question. I'm concerned about Apple pulling the plug on Java with the announcement that Java on a Mac is now "deprecated" and may not be present on future versions of Mac OSX.

Does that mean Netbeans on Mac is dead?

I think it only means that someone else (ie the Free Software community, aka OpenJDK project) or Oracle (via www.java.com) needs to start developing and distributing Java for Mac OS-X.

In fact, I always thought it was kinda stupid for Sun to rely on Apple to deliver _ALWAYS LATE_ Java support. The same happened with Palm OS. Sun lost a good opportunity of making Java even more ubiquitous by releasing its own Java for Palm OS, instead of relying on third paties (ie IBM´s J9 VM).
