Getting NetRexx to work with NT: Take 3

Buck, Peter INS
What a strange list, where REPLYing goes to the author, not to the list.

I got 3 replies to my request for help getting NetRexx to work with NT, all
suggesting, in one form or another, that I should get a real Java from Sun
rather than trying to make NR work with Microsoft's.

That might work.  Probably would.  But I was (and still am) asking if anyone
has been successful getting NR to work in a MS/NT environment.  If so, I'd
like to figure out how to do it (the installation instructions imply it
works).  If not, I think I'll take a pass on NetRexx.  Reluctantly--it looks
attractive.

Anyone?

Not I, but let me see if I understand you.  You work with Windows and want
something that will work with the "normal" install of Windows NT so you
won't have the added problem of making sure any machine running the final
app has "real Sun" java instead of "M$" java?

Basically.  I have a job to do on MS boxes.  If NetRexx can help, I can use
it, but I can't use it to justify modifying the "real MS" environment.

By the way, the problem (reported by Mike C.) is a known bug in the MS JIT
compiler.  With that turned off, I'm up and running.

NetRexx is working fine with my NT workstation.  My configuration is:

M/S Windows NT Workstation 4.0 - SR 3
Sun Java SDK 1.1.6
IBM NetRexx  1.1
IBM VisualAge for Java 2.0 (beta)
