Hi gents,
I just got a brand new MEDION Intel Pentium N3530 NoteBook with an 500 GB SSHD. Windows 8.1 included ... Downloaded the GUI Based NetRexx installer, started it, but got the message *Can not write to this directory* when I entered the desired directory name: C:\NetRexx\ in the proper panel. Java8 JDK is already installed there ... Has anybody an idea why this might occur ? Anyway, I shall now proceed with manual installation ... The good news are, that, after the manual installation, both
NetRexx3.03GA and jEdit 5.2 are now running. When I could help the author(s) of the GUI based installer to track down the problem described below down, please let me know. 1:0 for Germany now against France in Brasilia .... (need an interrupt ;-) ) Thomas. ===================================================== Am 04.07.2014 17:33, schrieb Thomas Schneider: > Hi gents, > > I just got a brand new MEDION Intel Pentium N3530 NoteBook with an 500 > GB SSHD. > Windows 8.1 included ... > > Downloaded the GUI Based NetRexx installer, started it, but got the > message > > *Can not write to this directory* > > when I entered the desired directory name: > > C:\NetRexx\ > > in the proper panel. > > Java8 JDK is already installed there ... > > Has anybody an idea why this might occur ? > > Anyway, I shall now proceed with manual installation ... > > Greetings from Vienna, > ThomasSchneider > > _______________________________________________ > Ibm-netrexx mailing list > [hidden email] > Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ > _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/

No need for any help, Thomas. If you want to write in a protected space under Windows 8.x, you’ll need to run the installer with Administrator privileges. Or, elect to stick with the default installation directory and run it as a user. _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |
Thanks, Tom Maynard :-)
As I am brand new to Windows 8.1 (did use Windows XP so far), I didn't know about the Admin privileges. Maybe a note in the User's Guide or a message in the GUI installer might help novice Novice NetRexx users. Issue closed from my side, Happy weekend, all ;-) Thomas. ====================================================================================== Am 04.07.2014 19:06, schrieb Tom
