Re: [Ibm-netrexx] Mailing list

David Requena

We do only notice failed attempts to leave the list.
I wonder how many people are lately succeeding at leaving silently...

The list has been experiencing a rise in traffic maybe reminding no
longer interested people that they were subscribed. I hope so at least...

Did notice that too. I hope everyone contributing realises that it is the quality and usability of the contributions that eventually leads to growing or shrinking attendance. This is quite a responsibility for us all. Lately, discussions have shown me that I need to set up the NetRexx site quickly, that should contain a faq for starters, and probably a wiki to enable people to find solutions to often asked questions themselves.

Not to mention that for Java or Windows problems, a simple google suffices most of the time. My suggestion would be that we need to keep the s/n ration high by providing good discussion ourselves as much as possible.

But with traffic suddenly surging, where it sometimes was silent for years, or at least months, it is certainly also possible that people that have moved on to other jobs and tools suddenly realize that they are still subscribed. I wonder if we could have a small link at the bottom that leads people to the administrative tasks without worrying us too much.

René.

Then it has been worthwhile.  Good idea.

I get an email every time someone joins or leaves the group.    There
has been a lot more such activity over the last few weeks but I would
guess that the number leaving was less than 10, and there have been
quite a few new joiners too.

Also, within a day or two  I hope to be able to announce a public "copy"
of the mailing list.   Some of the recent data (from today) is already
there.  Once I get all the old stuff loaded up I'll let you know where
it is.

Ian,

You managed to deliver two distinct bits of great news in a single
message. Namely having new joiners to the list (surprising to me) and
coming live public list content.

Many thanks!
