IE seems to work now (ca. 11PM Central time in Texas) -- The first load is 8-10 seconds -- subsequent loads are speed of light.

[Editorial note: It looks like a lot of "extra" is being
downloaded, compared to a "plain HTML"-file with 2 images (maybe
one) that would look and behave the same way. While I'm sure that
HYPE makes the maintenance of the whole site easier, consideration
should be given to hand coding this first page to speed that "first
load" that visitors see. And this page is likely to remain "static"
for long periods of time. If you want, I could run one up in a
hurry.]
