Dear list members,
this message is to inform you of the fact that NetRexx 3.02 has been released. All issues reported for the release candidates have been resolved and 3.02 GA has passed all tests; further more, the language architecture review board (ARB) has voted unanimously positive. The official minimal required JVM level is 1.6, which is the level supported by the release package. The installation package is downloadable from http://netrexx.org . On the website documentation of the new functionality and the odd bug fix can be found. NetRexx 3.02 marks the continuity of translator development and should instill enough confidence in everyone to use it in IT projects. Release 3.02 has been publicized, with slight hyperbole as often found in the media, in http://www.drdobbs.com/jvm/netrexx-the-original-jvm-scripting-langu/240149819 . The project will focus on release 3.03 next. If you have any requirement for the NetRexx language that we do not know about, please enter a request in the ticketing system at https://kenai.com/projects/netrexx . We are inviting you to take on an active role in language development, for example by building it from the source code yourself or contributing to examples, documentation or language features. The plan for 3.03 includes an installer in the vein of ooRexx, an "address" facility and integrated JSR223 support. Also, developments in the JVM environment will be tracked and implemented if required by the user base, and support for the JVM collection framework will be enhanced. Also, modernization of the documentation is ongoing. If you find any problem, please let us know. NetRexx 3.02 has been branched for release and problems will be diagnosed and fixed. best regards, René Jansen Project manager, RexxLA NetRexx project. _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |
It would be great if BBB Angstrom users could add on NetRexx as easily as they can add Java "opkg install openjdk-6-jdk". It gets a bit stickier than that but in general its an easy install.
