In light of the upcoming REXXLA conference, and the consideration of NetRexx enhancement, I'd like to draw your attention a document from the wayback machine: http://lafaix.online.fr/netrexx/WD-miscproposals.html.
The webpage suggests a number of proposals to "improve" the NetRexx language ... items that have most likely languished for a decade or more. Most of them are reasoned and dispassionate (perhaps all of them -- it's your call). What are the group's thoughts on these suggestions? The 'Net is full of obscure NetRexx hits like this if your Googling skills are honed. Would NetRexx be improved by the adoption of one or more of these suggestions? Tom (from rainy/stormy Chicago). _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] |
Hi Tom,
I do think the NetRexx audience, and Rene Vincent Jansen in particular, is quite aware of Martin? Lafaix original paper. I also do think we should go in detail thru his paper as soon as the NetRexx Code is open sourced and we can see how much effort will be involved to implement those suggestions. But thanks for your reminder anyway... :-) Thomas Schneider. =========================================================. Tom,
Yes, these proposals have been discused several times here over time. I remember being impressed by parsing in parameter listst (was it called "method parameter decomposition"?)
René stated he was aware of them as well. IIRC in IBM's NetRexx pages on minor classes pages MFC mentions Martin Lafaix as one of the minds behind the concept.
