NetRexx plans

Robert L Hamilton
At what stage are the plans to add v.03.00 to Plugins in jEdit and to make changes to the various IBM/Netrexx notations around and about the www?

Since NetRexx 3.00 is pretty much identical to NetRexx 2.05 except for some copyright text changes, there is no point in updating anything yet. I have manually copied the new NetRexxC.jar file into my jEdit jars directory to replace the 2.05 NetRexxC.jar file and run many NetRexxScript tests with no problem. You can do so also if you wish to confirm that it works OK. If the next release of NetRexx open source has related changes, I will update the jEdit repository at SourceForge. The NetRexxDE plugin has an option field that points to the NetRexxC.jar file - you can update that field to test it with 3.00.

Hi Kermit,
as you might know from the issues list at Kenai , I'm fighting with LOADER problems, which are obviously NOT related neither to version 2.05 *nor* to version 3.00 (which I *erroneously* suspected), as they did first time occur
*after* I did install NetRexx 3.00.

I'm trying to find here a methodology to have *NO need* to change the
classpath environment anymore for so called Java 2 Optional Packages,
which are available since Java 4.2, I think. Proper do'cs are on Oracle's
Java related home-pages.

Don't like to explain the details here, just searching for a good methodology
under DOS (I'm still, probably due to my age, a command oriented man :-( ).

One comment only: I think it is NO Longer a good idea that NetRexxDE
and NetRexxScipt distribute NetRexxC.jar as part of the Jedit PLUGIN,
as this does NOT allow to switch the versions.

Did a file search on my PC, and found a LOT of copies of NetRexxC.jar.

Wouldn't be a good idea to name the 3.00 version NetRexx3.jar, so that you easily see which package uses what?

What do you think?

Anyway, thanks for the good news. :-)

Thomas.
