1.) Please do read the Company profile: I (and we) are concentrating
on computer- and natural language translation.
2.) natural language translation is a very big project (financed by
me, up to now), with some 200 peaople already working on the
details,
especially the countries surrounding Austria, as Slowenia, Slowakia,
Hungary, Tchechia, Poland, etc etc (the OLD Austrian
monarchy will be served first)
3.) The PP (The Program Porting Machine), and the ReyC (The Rey
Compiler) commercial pages are still to be filled in,
as some LICENCE issues are still not resolved.
4.) I do have frequent meeting with Hewlett Packard, Oracle, and IBM
those days..... :-)
... and a bit a lack of time.
Volunteers (CONTRIBUTORS) will be welcome :-)
5.) Essentially, PP (The program porting machine) is a UNIVERSAL
Source Code Parser and Translator. When you like,
you can translate COBOL to PL/I (or vice versa). SIC!
As already announced yours ago, it is my (first and latest)
attemt to solve the UNCOL problem (the Universal Compiler problem)
I did learn when I did study *Technical Mathematics*, centuries
(sorry, correct: decenniums) ago ;-)
6.) Rexx2Nrx should be already found under: Product: rexx2Nrx
(english version)
7.) Rexx2Nrx will be, in a very short time, obsolete (butt remain
there, for upwards compatibility)
8.) ReyC (the Rey Compiler) is the replacement.
Hope that is enough info for the minute, and sorry for any
*disruptions* :-)
Massa Thomas.

May I add (again) that
Rexx2Nrx (see www.thsitc.com/Rexx2Nrx)
*does* implement Rexx Date() and Time() ...

The lineage of NetRexx seems
clear enough. NetRexx incorporates many of the ideas
of REXX. REXX, of course, considerably predates
Java. NetRexx, on the other hand was created
precisely to leverage Java and cannot predate it.
Without Java, what would distinguish REXX and
NetRexx? [Interestingly, Object REXX is also an
object-oriented language influenced by REXX, and
actually predates NetRexx. Apparently MFC did not
think it was "the answer."]
The lack of Date() and Time() is not very
astonishing. NetRexx is a one man creation and Mike
has indicated that he was time constrained. There
wasn't time to rewrite the world, and the basic
language allows access to powerful Java classes doing
the same things, though not as conveniently. They
are, however, more than up to the task of writing
Date() and Time() routines in whatever format you
like.
This doesn't mean that Date() and Tim() shouldn't be
in NetRexx, simply that that step had to be deferred.
My understanding, from posts to this forum, is that at
least one class library exists that makes a good fist
at incorporating these and other REXX functionality.

In my edition of

One factor to be aware of is the "astonishment
factor" and, for me, one such is the lack of
Date() and Time() functions. And Mike notes that
language design is more of an Art than Science.

I second that!
