Hi Gents,
while searching for the Java recommendation for storing any Applications
in the ...\lib\ext\ directory
in my (printed out, sorry, I'm an old man), I did find a section *I did
create for myself* with
Java Features *not yet available in Current NetRexx*
As I am there, now, I list them for the community:
1.) Varargs: Java did already introduce a very nice notation for a
Variable Number of arguments.
My personal opinion simply is to use the same Notation in NetRexx (usage
of the Ellipsis sounds ver *human* for me)
2.) Enums: Enumerations shall be implemented in NetRexx as well, I think.
3.) Annotations: Same holds for the so called Annotations, which do
allow a better inline Documentation,
in a *standardized way*. Of course, we shall use '--' instead of '//' in
NetRexx.
4.) For Each Loop: Haven't yet checked whether this is now already
implemented by Kermit's
loop over enhancements
.
5.) AutoBoxing: This notation enhancements seem to be *very useful* for me.
6:) Generics: I think that shall have TOP Priority, as soon as possible,
please.
As far as I do remember, I did send a mail with a NetRexx Syntax
proposal for this
long time ag, but I cannot recall whether I did it on this ibm-netRexx
list or the Kenai develop-list.
Anyway, I did *never get any response* ...
Feel free to expand this list when I did miss something essential.
As all of you know, I'm surely *NO Java Expert*, as many of you *are*!
I'm switching *too much* between all the different Computer Languages to
be able to
retain all those subtle details of each language in Brain :-(
Sorry, nobody is perfect!
Thomas Schneider.
