Re: [RexxLA] Android (was New Word)

Thomas.Schneider.Wien
Hello Kermit & all,
there are GOOD news from my side:

Kermit,

I did download your OneTouch Timer Free successfully from the URL you
indicated to my
brand new Android RedBullMobile without any problems.

... and after 'installing it' (I didn't find the right button the first
time how to install it :-()
it does RUN without any problems (on my Android RedBullMobile Handy).

Great work. My congratulations!

Now, I would like to ask you, whether you are willing to *distribute*
and *open* your knowledge,
about what you did, to us, who we have obviously less knowledge than you
do...

Let me tell you the reason why I'm asking:

This would imply, for my upcoming Rexx2Nrx 7.00 release (called Rey
(Rexx for Java) for brevity),
that someone could use both NetRexx and even 'classic Rexx' to develop
ANDROID
applications...

That might be a major breakthru....

As some other members (both at  REXXLA and ibm-netrexx) might be
interested in
the techniques you did use to  build your .apk-file  (I am assuming this
means an Android Package),
I'm copying both those groups for their information.

Also, could you *please* point me (and us) to the docs and NetRexx Source
of this tiny application, please ?

This would help me (and probably all others as well) a Lot :-)

Let me tell you what I did find out on my RedBullMobile for your tiny appl:

-- It downloaded without any problems from the URL you gave.
-- It installed without any problems.
-- I even got the ICON, but I did originally think it's a standard
RedBull application.
I didn't relalize, it was YOURS !
--  It runs without any problem, both in the VERTICAL *and* the  HORIZONTAL
pane...

The only complaint, if any, would be that 'THE RING TONE" is too *quiet*
fo my ooold ears :-(.
Everything else seems to work fine !

Congratulations, by the way, and please *share*, what you did, either
thru these Communities
or on your home-page, or send me a private mail, when you prefer ....
