Hi Rene, and all,
I need to know now whether You would like to have the Rexx2Nrx Sources in the NetRexx Repository on Kenai. As You know, some time ago my ancient www.Rexx2Nrx.com home-page has been inadvertently deleted, and is now occupied but some grabbing company. I did already send You this query privately some time ago, but You have been very busy with the pending NetRexx 3.03 release those times, hence did never get a reply ... As KENAI does, this minute, *not allow* to create new KENAI Projects, as it is beeing moved to Java.net, I need to know now what to do. My proposal shall be to put it into the: www.kenai.com/netrexx/contributions/thsitc/rexx2nrx/... repository. The documentations, examples, etc, shall however reside on www.netrexx.org, in the tools section, I think. Pls. discuss and advise. Thomas Schneider. _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/

Thomas,
your sources are, as mentioned a few times here and there, in the netrexx contrib repository. They have been made to compile quite some time ago, as they did not previously due to unresolved references. You should update the contrib repository and rework your changes since the time you submitted them. If you are comfortable that they are correct, and do compile, and pass their testcases, you could check them in. best regards, René. Long, Long time ago I did *Donate* the former Rexx2Nrx Run-Time-Package
to RexxLA. I did never DONATE the Rexx2Nrx Translator itself (written originally in classic Rexx, porting itself to NetRexx ;-)) to RexxLA! My mail, monthes ago, has been that I am nowaday *donating* Rexx2Nrx itself, both the classic Rexx and the Boots-Trapped Netrexx Versions, to RexxLA. When anybody is interested, of course. I am not, however, using the ICU License for that major part ... ... I am NOT interested that anybody can *sell it* and I am *not* getting anything ... !!! :-( Thus, I did introduce the so called FAIR SHARE LICENCE (FSL). When You sell it, I am getting 50 % When not, it's free ;-) Ok? Thomas Schneider. PS: What You, Rene, and all others did never REALIZE: RexxLA does OWN the Rexx2Nrx Run-Time-Package since Years now, but: You did never market nor advertise it, nor even mention it neither on www.RexxLA.org *nor* on www.NetRexx.org ... Nobody even did say: Thank You (for the donation) ;-) ============================================================================== Documented on www.thsitc.com/Rexx2Nrx Am 03.08.2014 23:39, schrieb René Jansen: > Thomas, > > your sources are, as mentioned a few times here and there, in the netrexx contrib repository. Thomas,
RexxLA oversees open source projects. Your "FSL" is not an open source license. You are welcome to donate anything with a license that is either ICU or GPL or BSD licensed, but we do not have the resources to manage anything that requires fees if sold, etc. Your Rexx2Nrx Runtime package is appreciated, and I am sure that it can be put to good use by anyone who is looking for more Classic Rexx compatibility in NetRexx. We can, however, not assist in monetizing any code. If you want to sell it, or open it up without an open source license attached, you are on your own. I hope you understand this - and see why RexxLA cannot accept this gift. best regards, René Jansen. Hi Rene, again ...
1.) Personally. I do dis-agree with the *whole concept* of open source. I *did agree* with the *concept* the aformentioned GEISCO (::== General Electric Information Company) did have: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ * Author Royalties + ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ But, as GEISCO is DEAD, and live goes on, and on, and I did try (trust me, or not), as I did always try to be open minded, and I'm now getting 68 Years old, by 11th of August, 2014, ... ... and *I*, as all of *UsAll*, do never know what Your time frame of living shall to be ... *I* think *We* shall, together, find a way to simply *secure* at least *Rexx2Nrx* from all of that, what I did develop, I fool, thruout my lifetime, from beeing *off the air* when I am going away .... :-( 2.) I do NOT take care, whether it's ICU, BSD, or GPL, or whatever, as far as Rexx2Nrx is involved. I did make it *Freely available*, without any fee, I think 2004, or so ... 3.) I simply *want* to focus on other things -- Music, in my case :-) Thus, my proposal is, that we take this OFFLINE now, and may be Rony Flatscher from the NetRexx Board could advise me here in Vienna what shall be the best way to do :-) Anyway, as the *next RexxLA* meeting 2015 is here, in Vienna, ths Rexx2Nrx (as well as the Rey story) shall be closed by then (at least, I would like to have those stories closed, once, forever ;-)) !!! Have a nice week, all! Thomas Schneider. =============================================================================== Am 04.08.2014 00:10, schrieb René Jansen: > Thomas, > > RexxLA oversees open source projects. Oh, forgot:
www.db-123.com (another ancient home-page & product of mine) is as well a quite good test-case for Rexx2Nrx (as it has been originally started in The IBM Rexx Compiler, then Object Rexx 1.0, then switched to Rexx2Nrx due to the at those times disastrous I/O performance of Object Rexx) End of (my) story why I did develop Rexx2Nrx ;-) ... Didn't know about REGINA those times (too Busy with COBOL, PL/I, DL/I, IBM IMS, IBM VSE, Windows NT, SQL Server, CICS, etc, those times ....
