Hello group(s),
I'll need now, *until End of April, 2011*, some decisions of whether it is wanted/needed/desired to make tey Rey Compiler open source. :-) I'm currently in Negotiation with HP, Oracle, and IBM Austria, as well. As I did invest so much time into this effort, I would like some PAY-BACK (NET-income). I do have still *NO Idea* how I can reach this by a simple *open souce* release. I did invest a bit of time in investigating DOUBLE Licence approaches, but still didn't find a way, where I can OPEN SOURCE my doings, and still can get Licence-Fees for/of big Companies using my doings. :-( Any suggestions? Thomas. -- Thomas Schneider (www.thsitc.com) _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email]

Plus, the community open source version would be "as is" without any commitment of support or reply times, while the "corporate" version will get fixes from you in a high-priority basis, to your paying customers. In short: copy what Oracle and RedHat already do with their open source software. Basically you won´t be selling primarily the software, but your support services to them (HP, IBM, Oracle, etc) FC _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] |
Hello Fernando,
1.) Many thanks for your (as ever) instant reply, and the focus you did! 2.) What TYPE of LICENCE sould I *select* for the OPEN SOURCE issue there on www.kenei.com, projects ReyC *and* PP ? 3.) Where can I read about all those OPEN SOURCE Licencing issues? 4.) I've NOT yet decyphered what kind of Licences Oracle (and Redhat, or Suse) are using to make MONEY out of the open Source LINUX Licence, and what the original LINUX creator does live from ... :-( Hence, when you would be more specific of *what shall I do* (???) you would be *more than welcome* :-) Thomas. PS: Average PP Licence for COBOL, PL/I, and (in autumn 2011) Software AG's NATURAL witll be >= 100.000 Euro.
