Filter: Read on only if you are interested in embedded Java, and/or
the "Internet of Things" (IoT).
Okay, so you're interested. First, you may visit or bookmark the
home page of the
Java.net
IoT Community. But the secondary motivation for posting this
is to alert the embedded Java (i.e. NetRexx) community about the
IoT Developer Challenge.
Be advised that the "prize" is simply a free trip to JavaOne -- up
to three people receive free admission, airfare and hotel (up to USD
2,000). At least it's in San Francisco, Sep 28-Oct 2, so a free
mini vacation is also an excellent prize if you choose to skip the
convention. Or, if you would like to investigate the agenda, the
convention's website is
here.
On the Java.net IoT Community pages you'll find pointers to the
Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, and many others ... such as those listed
here.
I have a RasPi and a BeagleBone, and I have Java + NetRexx running
on both. Read about the challenge
on this page and
decide if you'd like to enter.
There is at least one member of this list who is actively using
NetRexx Embedded on a BeagleBone Black, perhaps there are others. I
have one friend who planned to use a Raspberry Pi in a project, but
switched to an Arduino for cost/efficiency reasons (but he is using
C in any event). [I haven't yet convinced him to try NetRexx.]
