I am studying the possibility of using Netrexx in conjunction with the embedded Java processor JOP (JOPDESIGN.COM). As is generally true with embedded Java's, only a portion of the Sun class libraries are/can be supported, and I suspect that NetRexxR.jar is unusable with the JOP runtime.
However, I wonder if by I can at least get the benefit of Netrexx's streamlined syntax by declaring classes binary, using only non-Netrexx types, and avoiding Netrexx concepts like Parse, etc. Would this eliminate the need for NetRexxR.jar? Thanks, George Hovey |
Indeed -- some of the old NetRexx examples have exactly that property.

I have recently merged the NetRexx definition, Supplement, and other
material to make a new NetRexx document, NetRexx 2. This is now available at: http://speleotrove.com/misc/NetRexx2.pdf Mike - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike Cowlishaw, IBM Fellow http://bit.ly/mfc IBM UK (MP8), PO Box 31, Birmingham Road, Warwick, CV34 5JL Unless stated otherwise above: IBM United Kingdom Limited - Registered in England and Wales with number 741598. Hi!
Thanks for getting all docs together. And while you are on the topic of NetREXX, quick question - have you thought of open sourcing it? Hi All,
Regarding opensourcin NetRexx see: http://www.rexxla.org/ Is it really going to happen anywhen in this century?? Seriously... are there any open issues keeping the opensourcing from happening a year later? any inputs on when the process could be completed? It's in progress, and going well. We couldn't find anyone to 'run the process' until near the end of last year, but we now have someone and he is working his way through all the legal documents etc., etc. There are several steps needed on both sides of the transfer. Six months would be a very good time to get through it all, nine is more realistic (bearing in mind it's not in anyone's 'job specification').
