Using IBM-NetRexx: a more simplified and efficient method to develop Java Programs.

ThSITC
Hello there,

After suggestion from my side, I've got the invitation from IBM
Austria to held a presentation under this Title at an IBM Customer
Meeting at Linz, Austria, Tuesday, 27th. September 2011.

Attendees will be technical people of all major IBM customers here
in Austria, and partially Germany, and Switzerland, as well.

I'll have to forward an outline of this presentation start of next week.

Hence, my questions:

1.) Are there any ready made presentations (in ENGLISH/GERMAN)
I could for this instance please (after translation to german)?

When yes, please forward them to me and/or give me the URL's, please.

2.) Does somebody have an idea which point's I should focus on?

This will be a major opportunity to present NetRexx at the german
speaking IBM customer market. Hence I will appreciate any help/advise
I do get!

Sincerely,
Thomas Schneider.

Thomas,

I have only two readily-accessible NetRexx presentations from the many
that I created when NetRexx was new.  They are both thirteen years
old, so there will be references that will need to be updated, no doubt.

They were originally created and presented in Freelance but the images
were later converted to a set of .gif files wrapped in HTML for web
presentation.

You (and anyone else) are free to use them, but it would be nice to be
given attribution as the author (although I did steal an example or
two from Mike's book).

You can find them at http://www.aresti.com/ .

  Hi Chip

1.) thanks for the URL. I will download it on the weekend. I'll *for
sure* quote you as *the author*. Mr Ex_RexxLa_President. And I'll most
probably insert
some slides about the Role of REXXLA in the IBM NetRexx goed open source
issue (which has been the major new message here to Austrian IBM folks,
by the way... :-)

2.) I do propose, to this group, that after my updates (in english) and
my translation (to german) I'm forwarding both versions to Rene Vincent
Jansen
for incorporation on the www.netrexx.org site, when the ARB thinks they
might be useful .... --- ;-)

3.) I do only hope that you are making good progress with your
Helicopter (non-related issue, howver, as usual) <grin>

Thomas.

Thomas,

I'm not sure how "downloadable" my NetRexx talks are.  They are
designed for web presentation, so there are a lot of *.htm files
containing pointers to *.gif files, and pointers to the previous/next
*.htm file in sequence.

Go through the presentations first.  If you can use either one of
them, let me know and I will send you a .zip file of just the *.gif
files.  You won't need the encapsulating HTML if you are going to be
creating your own presentation in German.

You may also have questions about what I was trying to convey in some
of the graphics.

Re: Using IBM-NetRexx: a more simplified and efficient method to develop Java Programs.

ThSITC
Hello Chip,
... please GO ahead and send me the ZIP.

I will then modify / translate them, when needed (surely needed for the
GERMAN version) and run PDFCREATOR thru them to get the final presentation.

I'll then forward those PDF File to Rene for inclusion in the ever growing
www.netrexx.org.

Greetings from Vienna.

Thomas.

PS: i DO still (PERSONALLY) think it's a PITY that the group ibm-netrexx
does NOT allow for attached files (of a reasonable size).

But this is an issue I did raise so many times that I currently do not
want to repeat it again   ... :-(

The answer is: *VERY* downloadable. ;-)

Here are the two presentations in a single .zip file, with all links converted to local.

Nothing that wget -m -np -k can´t deal with ;).

If there´s something I´m good at, is being a rabid data harvester and collector.
Now if I could get some corporation to donate me a Bluray recorder, my thousands of cds and dvds from the last 15 years would become much more manageable... <VBG>

umm, Fernando... I agree, but...

I was trying to avoid saying "downloadable by _Thomas_".  No one else
who wanted a copy of them ever had a problem, but this is Thomas we're
talking about here... :-/
