WHO, please IS, the list moderator of the IBM NetRexx Group?

Thomas.Schneider.Wien
Hello there,

I just sent, while discussing the impacts of DYNAMIC vs. static
TRACING with
David Requena, a (comparibly small) Message with an *attached file* (ca
50 Kilobytes),
named OPTIONS.nrx and get a message back that this message will be hold
until the
LIST Moderator reviews the message !

Hence, who, please IS the List Operator of IBM-NetRexx?

For sure, I will NOT send the List Moderator any overwhelming long mails,
but I need to KNOW whether I can talk with Kermit Kiser and David
Requena in a
sufficiently effective wa (using this group to keep the others informed),
or simply should switch back to private Conversations....

Thomas,

This happened to me the other day.  The list has a limit of 40K bytes
per message, if I remember correctly.  The list owner replied, what I
consider promptly, and tried to work with me to get my message altered
or approved.

This again is an IBM person who is, I believe, minding this list as a
favor, and not as part of his job responsibilities.

Thomas,

I wouldn't know who might be the list moderator but your email
was received correctly including the Options.nrx file attachment.

Remember that any attachment gets sent to every subscriber!   That's really
not what mailing lists are for ...

As far as I know there is not one.

I would use e-mail for swapping code, unless you are sure that all the other
subscribers want a copy.

Hello Mike,
... just to let you know that my test-message with Attached File
Options.nrx *became*
distributed to this list ....

Hence, isn't it marvelous, ;-)
Wich you a happy retirement, and see you at www.SpeleoTrove.com.

And for this GROUP here, I would like to repeat, what I did snend Mike,
years ago:

NetRexx *is the best language*, I have ever seen designed !! :-)

Thank you, Mike, here from Vienna, anyway, for all your efforts.... :-)

WHO, please IS, the list moderator of the IBM NetRexx Group? (5.0)

Thomas.Schneider.Wien
In reply to this post by Bruce Skelly
Hi Bruce, & all,

... as I'm already in Pension, I'm having the right to do anything in
favour.

...... but one decade AGO, I did have sooo many performance problems
with ooRexx vs 1.00
that I did decide to develop *and* introduce Rexx2Nrx (see
www.Rexx2Nrx.com for the details...)

Nowaday, I again, am acting as a bit of an Inventor:

Nearly Bankrupt, but NOT interested in Money ...
OK,
Thomas.

Hi Thomas

This is not a moderated list as such.  Your post was indeed held for
approval as it was over the 40KB size limit.   As it was not much over
the limit I went ahead and approved it.  Some later mailings confirmed
that people have received your note.

It is fair to say I am the list administrator in so much as I run the
server it is housed on.   That being said I take no editorial decisions
on the list, if someone posts to it, then it gets sent on unless it is
not from a registered list member it which case it just gets deleted
automatically.

I am always here on this email address if anyone needs to contact me.

Hello Ian,
1.) Thanks for Approving the message.
2.) Wouldn't it be the time (nowadays) to increase the limit for
attached files
to 100 KB, or so (with the band-width, we currently all do have) ?

The decision, however, is up to you....
Thomas.
(and thanks for approving my previous attachment).

I am happy to increase the mailing size limit - I assume 40KB is the
default as I have never changed it.   However before doing so I would
like to here if any other members of the list have anything to say about
it.  The last thing I want to do is change it against the wishes of the
majority.

What do YOU suggest as the attached FILE SIZE Limit on ibm-netrexx ?

Thomas.Schneider.Wien
Great answer, Ian, and thanks for monitoring this list :-)

Let *US* (*NOT* the *USA*)  wait,
what the members respond ....

Kind regards,

Tom. (from dark Vienna, Austria).

PS: By the way, I did change the subject to make it clearer (I do hope)
