Just a last remark for the time being, meant as an input for further
discussion about NetRexx.
In order to remove the need for NetRexx programmers to get the JDK and
fiddle with tools.jar, one could instead try to use jars that allow to
compile Java soruce code at runtime. One such jar is "janino"

homepage with interesting information and links. janino has been used in
quite a few projects and is part of the BSF4ooRexx distribution.
