In June I checked out the NetRexx source code using svn.
Today, I tried to do an "svn update" to get all changes locally and stumbled over a svn problem in "netrexxc/examples/rosettacode", like: svn: In directory 'rosettacode''rosettacode' is locked, hence being advised to do a "svn cleanup" which yields: F:\work\svn\netrexx\netrexxc\examples>svn cleanupEven physically removed the rosettacode directory and after doing that, another "svn cleanup" succeeds and then an "svn update" is supposed to bring everything back, but causes earlier or later problems rooted in the report 'modify-wcprop' and the file 'rosettacode/RCSeiveOfEratosthenes.nrx' not being under version control (as depicted above). This is using cygwin's svn (under Windows XP SP3): svn, version 1.6.17 (r1128011)Anyone any ideas what the problem might be ? ---rony _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |
Rony,
I just did a download (Revision 133, 9/24) with no problems, and the file was one of the 118 in the Rosettacode directory that were downloaded. I know very little about SVN, but would guess that the problem is not at the repository. I had a similar problem with my SVN at Sourceforge and cleared it up by making sure that the local directories were up to date and in sync. But my setup is totally different: Eclipse vs Cygwin. Bill:
thank you for checking. Just tried to do a fresh checkout on a MacOSX, same problem! While running the initial checkout, the following error occurs: Then when trying to proceed:... cut ... Very strange - I'm trying to recreate the problem but have had no success
yet. I got a little hiccup, but it went away as soon as I synchronized again. Perhaps some kind of maintainence is going on, and your versions of SVN are more sensitive, or maybe something about the timing. I think that when the .svn files get messed up, it can be difficult to get things straight again. Good luck with it. Rony,
Obviously some trouble is going on when creating metadata for some files at your local working copy. Some quick questions: Are these legal names on your system? Is some file system limit being reached? Max path length, file name length, etc Are you running out of space? What about iNodes? Another possibility is, being http(s) the transport being used, that you might be behind a caching proxy and repeatedly getting the same bad file. That happened once to me, my (since then) former isp had a transparent proxy in place. - Saludos / Kind regards, David Requena NOTE: The opinions expressed here represent the opinions of the authors and do not necessarily represent the opinions of those who hold other opinions. -----Original Message----- From: "Rony G. Please disregard previous email. Just checked with a fresh checkout. Something weird is going on as the file is really not present at the temp directory but already exists at the text-base directory. Yeah, the svn client claims it cannot process a file it has already processed..
Will be further investigating this issue. 2011/9/25 David Requena <[hidden email]> Rony, Saludos / Regards, David Requena _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |
Hi All,
This is a confirmed issue at the server svn server. There are duplicate named files at the repo, hence download of every second one overwrites the first and local working copy post-processing fails. Please be patient while things get sorted out. Best regards, - From: David Requena <[hidden email]>

Same problem here. Files just checked in this afternoon - cannot check out on other computer. I might try removing and re-adding the whole directory; unless you can fix it of course.

This is now fixed in level 137 - it seems to be caused by me doing a lazy svn add* and then committing instead of only adding new files, and this in combination with the svn DB backend, which I myself stopped using years ago. In any case, it should work now.

Hi All,
Confirmed to be solved at the svn server. Revisión 133 commit comment has been edited to mark it as non functional. Now to get local working copies back in working condition for those who checked out or updated at revision 133:
If you have local modifications out of the roseta code examples directory to salvage, easiest approach is to delete the directory named ".svn" inside the rosetacode directory. Note this is normally not shown and marked as a system directory on windows. Once deleted 'svn update' will get you back on business.
I you had modifications inside the rosetacode directory, please askk for assistance as this could be a little more involved procedure. If you don't have local changes best approach is to start afresh with a new full checkout.

I had checked out 133 but somehow I avoided the problems. I just did an
update to 138, also with no problems. I assume it was because I had no changes. On 9/25/2011 5:44 PM, David Requena wrote: > Hi All, > Confirmed to be solved at the svn server. Well, to be precise the issue impacted new working copies or those at a revision < 100 as 99 was the last one were those files were updated.
More recent WCs weren't downloading the older revision versions of the files, just overwriting them with the newer ones. I guess you'd have had trouble committing some change to RC100Doors_opt1.nrx. Anyway, who cares? Let's ramp up for RC2! - Saludos / Kind regards, David Requena NOTE: The opinions expressed here represent the opinions of the authors and do not necessarily represent the opinions of those who hold other opinions. -----Original Message----- From: "[hidden email]" <[hidden email]> Sender: [hidden email] Date: Sun, 25 Sep 2011 17:58:33 To: <[hidden email]> Reply-To: [hidden email], IBM Netrexx <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [Ibm-netrexx] svn-problem with netrexxc/examples/rosettacode I had checked out 133 but somehow I avoided the problems.
