vnr and swing

Ignorance time!

What's the proper way to set of the environment for Swing *.jar files?
I've listed each one separately in the CLASSPATH.  This stopped the
error messages when I ran vnr.cmd, but now when I run it I just get a
window with a blinking cursor.
