Not sure whether BeagleBoard has been banned here, but this note relates to getting Android working on it. Hopefully Android will be a major growth area for NetRexx.

We are not really into banning anything here (and there might be better candidates than innocent hardware), maybe nudging people to be on-topic; NetRexx on Android certainly is, and we need to show the hardware options for this combination.
I have ordered a BeagleBoard myself as Android on the Raspberry Pi seems to go nowhere for some time now. best regards, René. On 25 jun. 2013, at 16:20, George Hovey <[hidden email]> wrote:

I believe -- subject to correction, of course -- that as long as the content is NetRexx related the topic is acceptable. However, if one shows me a rule, I'll follow it. And that is certainly a topic that has been discussed here before. I mentioned it myself when I first got an Android phone years ago. Not to put too fine a point point on it, but there is quite a big difference between the "BeagleBoard" and the "BeagleBone" (and the "BeagleBone Black"). In short, they are incompatibly different. Images built for the 'Board won't work on the 'Bone (and vice versa of course). However, there is an active community of Android people on the BeagleBone list, and a suite of touchscreen add-on boards available commercially. You can anticipate a "NetRexx on the BeagleBone Black" chapter in an upcoming release of the NetRexx documentation. I have just written it, although it will focus on the out-of-box stock BBB ... especially since NetRexx on Android has been covered (if not formally documented) previously here. A parallel chapter for the Raspberry Pi already exists. _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |
