Hi,
I've placed a very preliminary version of the Eclipse NetRexx plugin on Sourceforge. The project is named "Eclipse NetRexx", both at Sourceforge and Eclipse plugin central. The Eclipse update site for Eclipse version 3.6 is at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipsenetrexx/files/update I'll provide update sites for earlier Eclipse versions if there is demand. If you want to play with it, be sure to read the readme/release notes. There is still a lot to do, but currently you can edit NetRexx files with dynamic error parsing (statement level only for now), and then one-click compile, translate to Java, run/interpret or run compiled web applets. If anyone tries this, please post experiences etc. either here or on the forum at the Sourceforge project. I assume that there are relatively few people that are experienced with both Eclipse and NetRexx, but I'm hoping that it will catch on enough to justify further work. The sample files in the NetRexxD package are useful to experiment with. Bill ps. Some improvements will have to wait until the NetRexx source is released, but at least this initial plugin version will provide a sense of what will be possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com Enhanced email for the mobile individual based on Microsoft® Exchange - http://link.mail2web.com/Personal/EnhancedEmail _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] |

Rene,
If you (or any other reader) have not used Eclipse, I strongly suggest that you try to have a sit down demonstration with an experienced user. Installing Eclipse and figuring out how it works is not trivial, although there is lots of tutorial information on the net. Once a NetRexx user understands what the Eclipse Java Development Environment is like, they will understand what I'm trying to develop for NetRexx. One of the things I need to continue the development is a user base that provides suggestions to help get the priorities in order. (And the NetRexx source, of course :) Bill -------------------------------------------------------------------- myhosting.com - Premium Microsoft® Windows® and Linux web and application hosting - http://link.myhosting.com/myhosting _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] |
I for one would be interested in learning to use this tool and supply bug-reports or suggestions. Where to start?? Kenneth Klein Systems Specialist 502-868-3644 859-750-5179 (Cell) 502-868-2298 (Fax) [hidden email]

If you are an Eclipse user with Helios (Version 3.6) installed, add this
update site: https://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipsenetrexx/files/update/ and install the plugin. Also read the "readme" file. I'll update the documentation at the eclipse and sourceforge sites to try to make it more clear. If you are not an Eclipse user, go to eclipse.org to get started :) Bill On 9/10/2010 8:21 AM, [hidden email] wrote: > > I for one would be interested in learning to use this tool and supply bug- reports or suggestions.
