I discovered CamStudio yesterday, and just uploaded my first Youtube video.
It shows some of NetRexx Eclipse (as of today), and describes the current status. It is about 10 minutes long and is in HD (1280 x 720 pixels). Assuming you have a good sized monitor and enough bandwidth, it is quite clear. I know that there are not many readers here that are interested in Eclipse, and that is OK with me. But this will give you an idea of what direction I'm going in, although I didn't take time to get into combined Java and NetRexx projects using the Eclipse debugger, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFvfT5Zs_GI Bill ps if it is fuzzy, be sure you are looking at it HD. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com - Microsoft® Exchange solutions from a leading provider - http://link.mail2web.com/Business/Exchange _______________________________________________ Ibm-netrexx mailing list [hidden email] Online Archive : http://ibm-netrexx.215625.n3.nabble.com/ |

Awesome video, Bill! It looks like we may have a real NetRexx IDE soon.

Fernando,
When I first started with Eclipse plugins, NetBeans was rather primitive in comparison. I looked at it at the time, but it wasn't really a viable option. As I understand it, NetBeans has come a long way since then and is apparently trying to woo Eclipse developers. Trying to learn the NetBeans environment at this point would be distracting, but I'll take a look again after the Eclipse package is released. Without knowing the details of how the Eclipse and NetBeans IDEs map to each other, it is hard to estimate how hard a job the conversion would be. My work will be open source (Eclipse license) and since I don't have any NetBeans development experience, possibly someone else will do that work first based on the grammar, etc. in my package. Open is open. I also developed a custom version of JavaCC which generates an incremental parser and AST processor, and that will be part of the package as well (details in my wordpress blog). Reparsing whole files is OK if the files are small enough, but for IDE use and legacy files, incremental processing is important. I learned that when I was working on a PL/I plugin - someone sent me a 10,000+ line (> 1 Mb) source file and you can imagine what that was like. Certainly comparable NetRexx support in the NetBeans IDE is important.
