The recently released Java 1.1.4 for OS/2 seems to have bugs in the
JITCompiler while running netrexx. I've had different Exceptions referring to 'bad options' while compiling netrexx files. Mike said this error messages are 'spurious' and that the Java people at Hursley might look into JITCompiler. (Thanks for the fast respone.) Cause Ed Tomlinson reported similary errors at the Hursley newsgroups I'd say 'beware of 1.1.4 for OS/2 if you need netrexx' and who doesn't need it? I've deinstalled 1.1.4 and reinstalled 1.1.1; the _newest_ Feature Installer 1.21 is pretty helpful, especially if you run Warp Connect. regards kp -- K.P.Kirchdoerfer Voice: +49 431 15479 24116 Kiel E-Mail: [hidden email] The Mission Is Terminated (TG 1982) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To unsubscribe from this mailing list ( ibm-netrexx ), please send a note to [hidden email] with the following message in the body of the note unsubscribe ibm-netrexx <e-mail address> |
On that subject, anyone getting the following error when attempting to install 1.1.4:
**NULLID** :: Exception -1073741819 returned to instthrd.c 532l I have given up after several days of trying to install it. 1.1.1 installs fine so I guess I will continue to use it. It would be really nice if the installer didn't require Netscape - it would simplify things a bit. Give me a zip file any time :-) dp On Sat, 22 Nov 97 21:45:41 +0100, K.-P. It happens at 97% percent complete and does not seem to affect the install - just its a pain in the rear end. I ****REALY**** wish IBM would start using a common install format (like Debian's .deb or Redhat's .rpm or IBM's MSHP, or SES). It would really help if OS2 started using ONE installer for All components, drivers and applications. Its also VERY important to document how its working so that when it fails it can be fixed manually. For instance I cannot get peerinst.exe to work here (SYS3175s even with FP5) and there is not much I can do except try a complete reinstall or OS2... and that really stinks.
